Bowring Park is one of many parks locally that are truly treasured by residents. These green spaces are places where people walk, meet friends, spend time with family and enjoy a bit of breathing space in busy lives.
Over recent months, I have seen first hand the fantastic work being carried out by the Friends of Bowring Park and One Day. Their commitment, energy and care for the park is making a real difference and it deserves recognition.
From practical improvements to bringing people together through activities and events, this work is about more than just maintenance. It is about pride, ownership and ensuring Bowring Park remains a welcoming and safe space for everyone.
I am proud to fully support this work and to be actively involved in it. Protecting and improving our parks does not happen by accident. It happens because local people step forward and because there is strong partnership working between community groups, volunteers and local representatives.
“Our parks matter because they belong to everyone and they deserve to be looked after for future generations.”
Parks like Bowring are vital for wellbeing, for connection and for the environment. They should be protected, invested in and valued for the role they play in everyday life across our communities.
I want to thank everyone involved for the time and effort they give so freely. This is a great example of what can be achieved when people work together with a shared commitment to their local area.
