One of the reasons I wanted to stand locally is simple. I believe you cannot represent a community unless you are part of it.
Over recent weeks I have been out and about across Roby , knocking on doors and stopping for conversations where people live their everyday lives. These chats are not scripted and they are not always easy, but they are honest and that is exactly how it should be.
People have spoken to me about things that matter to them. Keeping neighbourhoods clean, feeling safe, getting around easily and dealing with the rising cost of living. Just as importantly, many have shared what they love about living here and what they want to protect.
“If you do not listen properly, you do not really understand. And if you do not understand, you cannot act in the right way.”
Listening is not something I switch on during an election period. It is how I have always worked and it is how I will continue to work. By being visible, approachable and accountable.
