Supporting Children’s Mental Health Across Roby

It’s been a powerful and inspiring week out and about across Roby supporting Children’s Mental Health Week.

I’ve had the privilege of visiting several of our fantastic local schools, including St Anne’s Catholic Primary School, Blacklow Brow School, and Malvern Primary School.

In each school, I saw first-hand the care, creativity and commitment being shown to put children’s wellbeing at the heart of everything they do.

Creating Safe Spaces

From encouraging open conversations about feelings, to building quiet reflection areas and delivering creative wellbeing activities, our schools are making a real difference every single day.

Children’s Mental Health Week is an important national moment, but in Roby our schools don’t just focus on wellbeing for one week. They embed it into everyday learning and school life.

That matters.

Because when children feel safe, supported and understood, they thrive. They grow in confidence. They are better able to learn, build friendships and develop resilience.

Recognising the Real Work

I want to say a heartfelt thank you to the teachers, support staff and pupils who are leading the way.

Supporting children’s mental health takes patience, compassion and dedication. The work happening across our schools shows the strength of our community and the importance we place on looking after one another.

As someone who works closely with families across the ward, I know how vital this support is. Schools are not just places of education, they are pillars of care and stability for many families.

I will continue championing our schools and backing the work they do to support children’s wellbeing.
