Road safety is one of the issues residents raise with me time and time again.
Concerns about speeding, pedestrian safety and the safety of children travelling to and from school are not abstract policy debates — they are everyday realities for families across our community.
That is why I’ve been working with colleagues and officers to progress traffic calming measures on Childwall Lane and Court Hey Avenue.
Listening to Residents
Local people have told me clearly that traffic speeds along these routes are a concern. Whether it’s families walking to school, older residents crossing the road, or drivers navigating busy junctions, safety must always come first.
These concerns have not been ignored.
Following discussions and engagement, proposals are now moving forward to introduce traffic calming measures designed to:
- Reduce vehicle speeds
- Improve pedestrian safety
- Create a safer environment for families
- Support safer routes to local schools and parks
This is about prevention. It’s about taking practical steps before accidents happen.
Delivering Safer Streets
Traffic calming is not about punishing drivers. It is about balance — ensuring roads work for everyone, including pedestrians, cyclists and children.
By introducing measures on Childwall Lane and Court Hey Avenue, we are responding directly to what residents have asked for and making our streets safer for everyone who uses them.
There is always more to do, but progress like this shows what can be achieved when concerns are raised, conversations happen and action follows.
If you have concerns about road safety in your area, please continue to get in touch. Listening to residents is how we drive real change.
Listening. Supporting. Delivering. 🌹
