Mother’s Day is one of those moments in the year that gives us the chance to pause and reflect on the people who mean the most to us.
For me, it is about saying thank you. Thank you for the love, the patience, the guidance and the constant support that so many mums, grandmothers and mother figures give every single day. It is often the quiet things that go unnoticed, the small acts of care and kindness that make the biggest difference.
I am lucky to have strong people around me who have played that role in different ways. It reminds me just how important that support is, not just in our own families but right across our community.
In the work I do, I see first hand how much mums do. Balancing family life, work, and everything in between is not easy. Many are supporting others while quietly dealing with their own challenges. That strength and resilience deserves real recognition.
Mother’s Day is not the same for everyone. For some it is a day of celebration. For others it can be difficult, especially for those who have lost someone or who are missing family. It is important that we recognise that too and look out for one another.
Today is about appreciation in its simplest form. A message, a visit, a phone call. Taking that time to let someone know they matter.
To all the mums, grandmothers and mother figures in our community, thank you for everything you do. You are the backbone of so many families and a huge part of what makes our community so strong.
I hope you have a day where you feel appreciated and valued.
