Planting for the Future at Roby Field

I’ve been out on Roby Field over the past few days with local residents and volunteers, getting stuck into planting bulbs across the space and I just wanted to share a bit about it.

It might seem like a small thing, but for me, this is exactly what community is about. People coming together, having a chat, getting their hands dirty, and doing something positive for where we live.

Right now, you wouldn’t think much has changed. It’s just patches of soil where bulbs have been planted. But in a few weeks’ time, those same areas will be full of colour, something everyone can enjoy when they’re walking through the field, whether that’s with family, the dog, or just getting a bit of fresh air.

What stood out most to me was the number of people who stopped to talk, ask what we were doing, or even join in. There’s a real pride in Roby, and people genuinely care about keeping our green spaces looking their best.

Roby Field is an important part of our community, and it deserves that bit of extra attention. This is one of those small actions that will make a visible difference, not just now, but for the months ahead.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and helped out. It really does make a difference.

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that bring people together — and this was one of those moments. 🌱
