Spending time out in the community is one of the most important parts of the role, and today was all about getting out across Bowring Park Estate and Court Hey to speak directly with residents.
We had the opportunity to speak with lots of people on their doorsteps, listening to their experiences, concerns and ideas for the area. These conversations are always valuable. They give a real insight into what matters most to residents and help ensure that the work we do is focused on the right priorities.
What stood out today was the positivity. There is a real sense of pride in the community, with residents who care about where they live and want to see it continue to improve. Alongside that, people were open about the issues they are facing locally, from day-to-day concerns to longer-term improvements they would like to see.
Listening is only part of it. What matters is what happens next. Every conversation helps shape the action we take, whether that is raising issues with the council, working with partners to find solutions, or supporting residents directly where we can.
Being visible, accessible and responsive is how we believe local representation should work. Not just during election time, but all year round.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with us today. Your views, your feedback and your voice genuinely make a difference.
