Today I spent some time on the pathway linking Hawthorne Road and Church Road, carrying out a walk-through and checking on a number of issues that have been raised locally.
The pathway is an important route used by many residents every day, whether walking to school, travelling to work, visiting friends and family, or simply accessing other parts of the community. Keeping it clean, safe and accessible is therefore incredibly important.
During my visit, I carried out some litter picking along the route and checked the general condition of the pathway. I also identified and reported a blocked gully which will require attention to help prevent drainage issues and potential flooding, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.
Whilst these may seem like small actions, they are often the things that make the biggest difference to residents’ day-to-day experience of their local area. Regular inspections, reporting issues promptly and taking practical action where possible all help to ensure our neighbourhoods remain places that people can be proud of.
One of the things I enjoy most about being a local councillor is getting out into the community, seeing issues first-hand and making sure concerns raised by residents are followed up. It’s not always about the big projects; sometimes it’s about tackling the everyday issues that matter most to the people who live here.
I will continue to monitor the pathway and work with the relevant teams to ensure reported issues are addressed.
A cleaner, safer and better-maintained environment benefits everyone, and I remain committed to doing my part to help keep Roby looking its best.
